Our History

​The Moms’ Club of Absecon & Galloway was founded in 1988-89 by Sandra Perna. She said the group formed out of a desire to keep children in safe playing environments within the community while meeting, learning and playing with other families. 

Pictured here is the original logo for the Mother's Club of Absecon & Galloway. The club utilized a  tree as part of the logo along with the phrase, "Just as a tree grows best when anchored firmly in the earth, so can a mother feel strong and capable when surrounded by a sisterhood of nurturing friends." The original logo designer and date this design began is unknown at this time. 

​2017-2019 president, Melissa Collesano, brought forth a reimagined modern club logo and slogan with the, “Hip, Blessed and Mom Strong” design. Collesano wrote, “MCAG #IRL stands for Moms' Club of Absecon & Galloway “IN REAL LIFE.” We specifically put that to show we need to get back to not just meeting virtually, but to meet in person to gain lifelong relationships.” 

​In 2020 the club expressed a desire for a logo with a classic design that felt inclusive for all mothers. Under the leadership of 2019-2021 president, Claire Mangione, members of the club were encouraged to submit design ideas or inspiration. These ideas were reviewed and edited over many months by volunteer club members in a special design committee. The group felt it important that the club was represented by a design that honored our history, could become easily recognizable to the community and symbolized the beauty and strength of motherhood. The final design, created by member, Alyssa Fox, was voted as the new logo in May 2021.
